Brazil Ironman Fundraiser

On behalf of Wheels4Life, on Sunday, May 30th 2010, Scott Nemeth will

compete in his premier Ironman Triathlon in Florianopolis, Brasil.

Scott was initially inspired to attain the unimaginable - the Ironman Triathlon consists

of a grueling 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run - but as training began

he realized that in order for this race to be something special it had to be about more

than just a personal achievement.

Prior to race day, and in partnership with Wheels4Life and The Ironman Foundation of

Brasil, bicycles will be donated to the local community. “We are doing something

tangible that will impact the local community immediately,” says Scott.  “I have been

blessed in this life, and enriched so much by the Brasilian community, that I want to

show my appreciation.”

“Wheels4Life is a non-profit charity [501c(3)] who partners with local individuals, organizations,

and other groups which help us identify persons who sincerely need a bike to be able to go to

school or to work,” says Wheels4Life Founder Hans Rey.  “Having a bike can make all the differ-

ence in somebody’s life and can give them a chance to break out of the viscious cycle of

poverty.  The gift of mobility, in the form of bicycles, can do wonders.”

Wheels4Life – Since its inception in 2005 Wheels4Life has donated over 1,500 bikes to

those in need to over 20 countries, including India, Philippines, Ghana, and Haiti.  This is the first

project in Brasil.  All contributions are gladly accepted and are payable by check or money order

to: Wheels4Life P.O. Box 21 Laguna Beach, CA 92652, or online via credit card or paypal at

www.wheels4life.org/donate. Please indicate Ironman Brasil Project in the notes section.

Ironman Brasil – 2010 marks the 10-year anniversary of Ironman Brasil and this year the

competition has nearly 2000 competitors.  With a rough open ocean swim, grueling hill climbs,

and unpredictable weather, the course in Florianopolis will be extremely challenging.
