Ride Earth project serves as W4L Ambassadors

8th March 2007
A pair of ambitious British mountain-bikers, Andrew Welch and Tom Allen, are planning an
attempt to circumnavigate the globe by mountain bike. Ride Earth, due to begin in June 2007, has a
broad itinerary that passes through some of the remotest areas of the world and covers over 50
countries, through Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, Northeast
and South-east Asia, Australasia, South America, the USA, and Canada, over a period of
several years.

Ride Earth have teamed up with extreme biking legend Hans Rey’s charity Wheels4Life.
Wheels4Life is a non-profit organization that provides bikes for people in Third-World countries in
need of transportation to get to work or to school. Tom and Andy will be the charity’s ambassadors
– on their journey they will identify individuals in need of a bicycle and give them the gift of
mobility in the name of Wheels4Life.
Ride Earth will also be fund-raising for The Wilderness Foundation, which aims to preserve and
promote the responsible use of the world’s last remaining wilderness areas.
